The Royal Insider may use artificial-intelligence and automation tools to assist parts of the publishing workflow, but responsibility for what we publish remains with human editors and authors.
Permitted Uses
Technology may assist with tasks such as transcription, research organization, document summarization, headline brainstorming, data structuring, spelling and grammar review, image preparation, coding, workflow automation and the identification of possible internal links or related coverage.
Human Review
AI output is not treated as a source. Material factual claims should be verified against reliable evidence before publication. Editors remain responsible for accuracy, context, fairness, sourcing and legal or ethical judgment.
Synthetic or Altered Media
Images or media that are materially generated or altered in a way that could lead readers to mistake fiction for an authentic news photograph should be labeled or otherwise disclosed. Ordinary cropping, resizing, exposure correction and similar production edits generally do not require such a label.
Confidential Information
Staff should not place confidential source material, unpublished sensitive information or private personal data into tools unless the newsroom has determined that the tool and its data practices are appropriate for that use.
Corrections and Accountability
The use of technology does not reduce our correction obligations. Errors introduced by automated tools are handled under the same Corrections Policy as any other error.
